From Malabo or Luba to Limbe: arrival guide for vessels from Bioko

A short passage with a border in between: what to order before you sail from Bioko, how clearance works and what to have ready when you anchor off Limbe.

From Limbe you can see Bioko on the horizon. For a supply vessel, tug or tanker leaving Malabo or Luba, Limbe is one of the closest calls in the Gulf of Guinea. The passage is short, but it crosses a border, and that changes how you should plan your stores.

A short passage: order before you sail

Bioko to the Limbe anchorage is roughly 30 to 50 nautical miles depending on where you leave from. For many vessels that is only a few hours at sea, so there is little time to prepare an order once you are under way. Ideally send us your list before you leave Malabo or Luba, about 24 hours before ETA.

Tip: if you sail at short notice, send the list and ETA anyway. Small urgent orders can often go out the same day; the rest is planned to be ready as soon as possible.

Crossing the border: clearance through your agent

Arriving from Equatorial Guinea makes this an international voyage into Cameroon. Inward clearance (customs, immigration and port health) is handled through the vessel's appointed agent. To have everything ready on arrival:

  1. Confirm your agent in Cameroon before you sail
  2. Send ETA, last port and crew list to your agent
  3. Send us vessel name, IMO number, ETA and delivery point
  4. Tell us the billing entity: owner, manager or charterer

Same currency, no surprises

Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea both use the Central African CFA franc (XAF), so our XAF quotes are easy to compare with your costs on Bioko. We also quote in USD or EUR.

What we can have ready when you anchor

  • Fresh and dry provisions, bought at Limbe and Buea markets and packed with your vessel name.
  • Fresh water in bulk, with quantity confirmation.
  • Garbage and oily water collection by licensed handlers, with receipts for your record books.
  • Crew changes through Douala airport, with a night at Seme Beach Hotel if needed.
  • Spares in transit, received and held at our guarded yard until you arrive.
